Spring Term Newsletter 2021

We hope you were able to celebrate Christmas, despite all the restrictions, and hope that 2021 brings a much improved situation in controlling COVID-19. We congratulate all our families who maintaining some form of normality for their children by bringing them to Bear Hugs Nursery. A huge thank you to the children and their families who gave the staff cards and gifts that support the team to feel their efforts and teachings are being appreciated by you all.

Christmas Activities

In our Autumn Term the children wore fancy dress and named the teddy in support of Children in Need. As part of our Christmas celebrations the children wore Christmas jumpers, learnt new Christmas songs and had a Christmas party with games, music, food, crackers and balloons. We hope that next Christmas the children will once again be able to perform for their parents and carers, as well.

Parents in the Nursery

As a nursery we have been not had any recorded cases of COVID-19, but we cannot be complacent. Therefore, due to the current climate, parents will no-longer be able to come into the nursery. Please ensure you have a face-mask covering your nose and mouth when you are on the nursery premises, which starts at the main front gate. On arrival you will be able to handover your child at the hall door to a member of staff and when picking your child up, they will be brought to you at the hall door by a member of staff.

Symptoms of Coronavirus - COVID-19

Do not attend the nursery if you or a member of your household have any of the signs of COVID-19, which are a high temperature (above 37.8’C), new persistent cough, loss or changed sense of smell or taste (anosmia). If your child or a member of your household has symptoms you must apply for a test via nhs.uk/coronavirus and inform the nursery of your test results. The person with symptoms or a positive test must self-isolate with their household for 10 full days. If the test is negative your child can return to the setting and the household come out of isolation. If the test is positive you must continue to self-isolate and the NHS track and test service will contact you, and you must promptly share details of recent contacts. The NHS test and trace will alert contacts and advise contacts who should self-isolate for 10 days from the day of contact to the person who tested positive. The nursery will inform staff and parents of children who have attended the setting at the same time as the infected person. If your child is seriously ill call 999 or NHS 111 (https:/111.nhs.uk/covid-19/)

Food Consumption

Some children are arriving at the nursery consuming food or being presented with food as they are being collected from their chairs. Please do not give your child food within the nursery, as this can be upsetting for other children and could be a choking hazard if your child is not fully monitored.
