End of Spring Term Newsletter 2021

Staff

Bear Hugs Nursery would like to welcome Mrs Pietra Gancitano who joins the Bear Hugs Nursery team as a volunteer.

New Children’s Cameras

Thank you to those families who have kindly given a termly donation to the nursery. Your donations have enabled the nursery to purchase ten children’s cameras, which the children have already been using to take photos of their nursery environment and demonstrate, through photos, the resources and peers they enjoy playing with.

Full Opening Times

From Monday 8th March Bear Hugs Nursery will be resuming it’s full opening times. Monday to Thursday
Morning sessions 9.15am to 12.15pm and afternoon sessions 12.15pm to 3.15pm

Spring Term Topics

For the second half of the Spring Term the children will be discussing how to become Eco friendly through gaining an understanding of how they can support their natural world and environment through protecting endangered animals, recycling paper and plastic, conserving water and planting flowers to encourage bees and butterflies. In addition, the children will celebrate World Book Day, Mothering Sunday and Easter.

World Book Day

The children who attend Bear Hugs Nursery on a Thursday are encouraged to celebrate World Book day on Thursday 4th March, by wearing a costume to represent a character from their favourite book on that day.

Lost Property

The nursery has one blue and black striped baby sock found in the waiting area and one pink mitten left by a nursery child. Please speak to a member of staff if these belong to you.

Choking hazards

Children can easily and quickly choke on food. To prevent this happening we ask if you put sausages, grapes and/or baby tomatoes in your child’s lunch box, that can lodge in a child’s throat, you cut them into four pieces lengthways. In addition, please do not leave any food/sweets in your child’s personal bag, or bring you child into nursery eating, as your child could eat them without adult supervision.

Clothing

We use the garden all year round and would ask that all children come into nursery, at this time of year, with wellington boots for the garden, as well as their indoor shoes, we recommend velcro plimsolls. In addition, coats are essential every day with a recommendation to include a hat and gloves for the colder weather. A full change of clothing should be brought into every session in your child’s bag in case of spillages, accidents or playing outside on wet surfaces.

Places for siblings

If your child has a younger sibling that is requiring a space at Bear Hugs Nursery, please speak to Fiona so they can be put onto the waiting list.

30 Hours Free Entitlement

Your child, from the term after they turn 3 years, could be eligible for 30 hours free childcare. Bear Hugs Nursery is offering up to 24 hours (8 sessions) free childcare to those children of working parents that meet the scheme’s criteria. To check your eligibility visit the HM Government Childcare Choices website If your child already receives the 30 hours free funding or you are eligible to start using the additional hours in April 2021, you will need to register/re-register by 31st March 2021 to start/continue to use the hours in April 2021.
