One of Bear Hugs Nursery’s most valuable assets is the strong staff team, who are dedicated to the education and care of the children who attend Bear Hugs.

Bear Hugs Nursery opened in January 2015 to support the community and surrounding areas of Addlestone. It is located at Addlestone Methodist Church Hall. We are committed to enhancing the development and education of children under the statutory school age in a safe, secure and stimulating environment. We work within the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) which ensures equality of opportunity for all children and their families.

At Bear Hugs Nursery children use purposeful play as a means of discovering and exploring the world around them. Children are encouraged to work things out for themselves and to seek help when needed. They learn to take turns, share fairly and co-operate with others. We aim to foster a sense of security and confidence, whilst enabling each child to develop and progress without pressure at his or her own pace.

At Bear Hugs we offer every child in our setting a specially tailored curriculum within the Early Years Foundation Stage educational guidelines. This enables children to progress towards the early learning goals and prepares them for the National Curriculum, which begins at Year 1 in primary school. We are registered with and inspected by OFSTED for our care standards and nursery education.

In January 2019 Bear Hugs Nursery was inspected by Ofsted. The nursery is delighted to announce that they received a Good Ofsted inspection, with Outstanding in Personal Development, Behaviour and Welfare.

The Ofsted reports states:

“Children thrive in this highly stimulating nursery environment and display a strong sense of belonging”

“Staff are very attentive, calm and listen to children respectfully”

“Children are happy, confident and motivated to learn. They make good progress in their development and are well prepared for their future learning and school”
